Islamabad, August 27: Youth
Parliament Pakistan’s proceedings of the house were
initiated with a resolution expressing solidarity with the
Muslims of Myanmar. Youth Parliament Pakistan started its
4th Parliamentary session in Islamabad with the discussion
on Burma killings. The parliamentarians urged the
Government of Pakistan to utilize diplomatic channels in
order to deal with the unjustified bloodshed of the
Muslims. “Concrete actions should be taken by the
government of Myanmar in order to ensure the access of
international media to the areas which have been the
direct subject of the brutality and discriminatory policy
against the Rohingya Muslims”, a motion moved by Minister
of Finance Planning Affairs and Economics
Mr.
Najeeb Abid Baloch (YP05-BALOCHISTAN03).
Later, Youth Minister for
Information, Mr.
Muhammad Usama Riaz (YP37-PUNJAB17) moved the motion
to discuss the possible recommendations for the Youth
Media Policy 2012. Mr.
Siraj Memon (YP57-SINDH09) was of the opinion that the
electronic and print media in Pakistan is still in its
preliminary and transitional phase. “No initiative of the
Youth Media Policy should be contradictory to the
sovereignty and integrity of the nation at large”. He
added.
Youth Minister for Foreign Affairs and Defence
Ms. Shaheera Jalil
Albasit (YP56-SINDH08) moved a motion to seek
suggestions regarding bilateral relations between India
and Pakistan. The minister was of the view that roadmap
designed by the ministry in consultation with the
concerned standing committee would pave the way to explore
new horizons for the improved bilateral relations between
the two rival nations. Youth Minister for Law,
Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights
Mr.
Muhammad Umar Riaz
(YP36-PUNJAB16) expressed serious reservations over the
gross violation of human rights by the Indian forces in
the occupied territory of Kashmir. He was of the view that
the liberalization of visa policy would contribute a lot
for reducing the trust deficit between the two countries.
The session was adjourned till the
next day.
The 4th Youth Parliament Pakistan is
supported by the Danish International Development Agency,
Government of Denmark as recognition of the importance of
young people's involvement in democracy and democratic
