  Brief Profile  

Mr. Muhammad Umar Riaz, born on August 11, 1987, hails from District Chakwal. He earned his law degree from University Law College, University of the Punjab, Lahore. In recognition of his outstanding academic performance and remarkable achievements in co-curricular activities, he was awarded ROLL OF HONOUR by University of the Punjab. Mr. Riaz was a part of several regional and international Model United Nations Conferences including Model United Nations in Germany and Finland where he won the Best Delegate Award in Germany and an international delegate diploma was awarded to him in Finland. He was amongst the seven students who were selected to represent Pakistan in international peace conferences held in India and Afghanistan. Mr. Riaz has taken part in a study visit to Sweden. Possessing a keen interest in travelling, he has also visited Netherlands and UAE. He has been awarded certificates of academic distinction and academic merit scholarships for three consecutive years by Punjab University Law College. Mr. Riaz served as the President of Punjab University Law College Debating Society, Editor of Punjab University Law College Gazette Society, Senior Member of Punjab University Law Moot Court Society and Member of Punjab University Model United Nations Society. He also represented Punjab University in English declamation, debates, mooting, public speaking and essay writing competitions. His interests include constitutional law, international law, corporate law and foreign affairs.

  Status in Youth Parliament  

Politically, Muhammad Umar Riaz was affiliated with Blue Party and served as, Youth Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights and was member of Youth Parliament Standing Committee on Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Human Rights and former member Youth Parliament Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defence from Session I to Session IV

Mr. Muhamamd Umar Riaz (YP36-PUNJAB16), Mr. Omair Najam (YP52-SINDH04) and Mr. Siraj Din Memon (YP57-SINDH09) would like to move the following resolution: “This House is of the opinion that immediate actions should be taken for ensuring durable peace in Karachi, the country’s economic hub. The elements responsible for the law and order situation in Karachi deserve no leniency and should be dealt with an iron fist.”

Government should take immediate steps to provide security to media personnel, both local and foreigner and should ensure the provision of basic human right of life security to them. ”

From clerical staff to higher offices and bureaucrats, corruption of one kind or the other is widespread. The need of the hour is to make internal policies based on accountability to counter corruption and drastic reforms need to be initiated.”
