  Brief Profile  

Ms. Sahar Iqbal was born on February 12, 1988 in Sahiwal. She received her initial education from St. Mary's Convent High School, Sahiwal where she won awards in debates and dramatics. She completed her Bachelors in English Literature from Kinniard Colllege for Women, Lahore. She received her higher education from Kinnaird College for Women, Lahore where she was involved in dramatics and debates. In her final year of Honours, she was elected as President of English Club. Besides academic activities, she also attended various conferences by British Council, Gimun etc. She started her journalistic career for The Nation newspaper and currently, she is working as Editor/Sub-Editor in Pakistan Today.

Politically, Sahar Iqbal was affiliated with Blue Party and served as, Chairperson Youth Parliament Standing Committee on Information

Ms. Shaheera Jalil Albasit (YP56-SINDH08), Ms. Anum Mohsin (YP22-PUNJAB02), Ms. Anum Zia (YP23-PUNJAB03), Ms. Yusraa Faaruq (YP13-ICT03), Ms. Seep Akhter Channer (YP55-SINDH07), Ms. Samman Ehsan (YP54-SINDH06), Ms. Elia Nauroz Ali (YP03-BALOCHISTAN01), Ms. Sahar Iqbal (YP44-PUNJAB24), Ms. Rabiya Shamim (YP53-SINDH05), and Ms. Elwina Rauf (YP10-GB01) would like to move the following resolution: “This House is of the opinion that the use of model of ‘Baltistan Apricot Revolution’ to introduce measures to facilitate the Micro- Finance Business Ventures of Women in Small Cities where Cottage Industry is more exploitable and encourage Private Companies and Investors to Increase Women Employment in the Service Sector of Urban Areas on the model of ‘Qatar National Vision 2030”.

Ms. Anum Zia (YP23-PUNJAB03), Ms. Sahar Iqbal (YP44-PUNJAB24), Ms. Rabiya Shamim (YP53-SINDH05), Mr. Osama Mehmood (YP42-PUNJAB22), Mr. Muhammad Hamid Chaudhary (YP32-PUNJAB12), Mr. Muhammad Zafar Siddique (YP39-PUNJAB19) and Mr. Siraj Din Memon ( YP57-SINDH09) would like to move the following resolution:: “This House is of the opinion that organic methods for agricultural production should be promoted in currently uncultivated areas in Pakistan through technical and financial assistance in order to increase the annual export of agricultural products”.

Mr. Siraj Din Memon ( YP57-SINDH09), Mr. Omair Najam (YP52-SINDH 04), Mr. Muhammad Asghar Fareed (YP31-PUNJAB11), Ms. Sahar Iqbal (YP44-PUNJAB24), Mr. Muhammad Hamid Chaudhry (YP32-PUNJAB12) and Mr. Kashif Yousaf Badar (YP27-PUNJAB07) would like to move the following resolution: "This House is of the opinion that immediate actions must be taken to ensure the rights of the street children and promote their best interest as espoused by the teachings of Islam, the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Convention of the Rights of the Children. Considering their poor and deteriorating condition, the house urges the National Commission of human rights to look into this matter and Provincial governments to strictly enforce the existing Child protection laws immediately and effectively.”

Mr. Gohar Zaman (YP25-PUNJAB05), Ms. Sahar Iqbal (YP44-PUNJAB24), Mr. Muhammad Hamid Chaudhry (YP32-PUNJAB12), Mr. Ateeq Ur Rehman (YP24-PUNJAB04), Mr. Muhammad Umar Riaz (YP36-Punjab16) and Ms. Anum Zia (YP23-PUNJAB03) would like to move the following resolution: “This House is of the opinion that in awake of increasing killing and kidnapping of Journalists, it is the prime duty of the government to ensure life safety of each and every citizen. Government should take immediate steps to provide security to media personnel, both local and foreigner and should ensure the provision of basic human right of life security to them. ”

Ms. Anum Zia (YP23-PUNJAB03), Ms. Sahar Iqbal (YP44-PUNJAB24), Mr. Osama Mehmood (YP42-PUNJAB22), Mr. Gohar Zaman (YP25-PUNJAB05), Ms. Rabiya Shamim (YP53-SINDH05) and Mr. Muhammad Umar Riaz (YP36-PUNJAB16) would like to move the following resolution; “This House is of the opinion that political advertising is increasingly being applied to media during election campaigns; sometimes a politician contending an election will make an explicit comparison between himself and his rival, others use government money and resources to advertise for their political campaigns. Such Political advertisements on television should be banned in order to give the general population an opportunity to self-evaluate and choose their leaders."

Mr. Aamir Khan Khichi (YP30-PUNJAB10), Mr. Muhammad Umar Riaz (YP36-PUNJAB16), Ms. Sahar Iqbal (YP44-PUNJAB24), Mr. Gohar Zaman (YP25-PUNJAB05), Mr. Touseef Abbasi (YP02-AJK02) and Mr. Usama Riaz (YP37-PUNJAB17) would like to move the following resolution: This House is of the opinion that religion is a very pious matter for all Muslims therefore media should restrain itself in mingling with certain notable showbiz personalities just to increase their ratings. These channels should not only be penalized but strict action should also be taken against them.”
