Third Session
(22-6-2012)

Ms. Ushna Ahmed (YP59-SINDH11) and Mr. Muhammad Taimoor Shah (YP35-PUNJAB15) would like to move the following resolution: “This house is of the opinion that the eruption of illegal organ trafficking in Pakistan since 1990s is a blatant abuse of human rights, as par WHO (Executive committee meeting and World Health Assembly meeting in 2004). Despite the approval of ‘Transplantation of human organ and tissue act’, 2010, by the parliament, evidence exist that organ trafficking is still augmenting. With health now being a provincial responsibility after the 18th constitutional amendment, the provinces have failed to uphold the respective law. Organ trade, which was once halted, is now again on the rise, and Pakistan is once again the cheapest organ bazaar. This exploitation of human beings and selling of human body parts as commodities have to be stopped promptly if human rights are to be upheld”.
