Stockholm, November 30; Members of the Youth Parliament
delegation, currently on a Study Visit to Sweden, visited
the Liberal Youth Party Headquarter at Stockholm today.
During the visit to the Headquarter, the Members of the
Youth Parliament were given a guided tour of the
Headquarter by Mr. Filip Wästberg, who gave a
briefing on the structure of the Youth wing of the Liberal
Party (LUF). He explained the involvement of the youth
wing in the policy making and the independent nature of
its function.
In the evening, the Members of the Youth
Parliament Pakistan were given a guided tour by of
Hammarby Sjöstad - an eco-friendly part of Stockholm.
The tour was given by a well known architect of the
Stockholm city by Mr. Björn Cederquist.
Members of the Youth Parliament Pakistan
were invited by the Ambassador of Pakistan in Sweden,
His Excellency Mr. Nadeem Riyaz at the Pakistan
Embassy. The Members were welcomed by Mr. Najeeb Durrani,
Deputy Head of Mission, at the Embassy of Pakistan
Stockholm and given a briefing on the working of the
Embassy. Later, His Excellency lauded the work of the
Youth Parliament Pakistan and said that Pakistan needs
such institutions which provide a constructive path to
youth of Pakistan. Pakistan needs the services of such
Youth Parliamentarians who can bring positive change in
the international arena, he said.

The Study Visit, supported by the Swedish
Embassy, Islamabad and the Swedish Institute (SI),
Stockholm, is facilitated so as to provide an opportunity
to selected Youth Parliament members to understand the
Swedish political and Parliamentary system and engage in a
meaningful dialogue with Swedish youth counterparts on
issues of mutual interest and concern.
The Youth Parliament Pakistan is a project
conceived and implemented by PILDAT. Youth Parliament
Pakistan 4th and 5th batches have the support of Danish
International Development Agency, Government of Denmark
in recognition of the importance of young people's
involvement in democracy and democratic practices. |
